Tabula Video
Via Zen of Design, a new video of Tabula Rasa over at Stratics. He also says that an older video at 1up is more impressive because it’s shinier. I’m not so sure … there’s an awful lot of recycled footage from the first video into the second, actually.
Specifically, though, the new video shows some of what a battle will look like, where the prior one was about cutting between sequences of pure awesome. The new one features lots of charging, lots of shooting, and very little else. My real complaint here is that I still haven’t really seen the combat classes in action. My assumption is that the cool HUD/shimmering thing some of the characters were doing was a Logos ability. Other than than, I don’t know what classes any of those people were, what their weapons were, what they were doing. I’m interested in the Biotech role, and while I can guess that one or two of those folks might have had that class, it’d be nice to know for sure.
I know TR isn’t coming out uber soon, but some explanation of what we saw in the trailer would be peachy.

I commented on Psychochild’s weekend design challenge from Sunday, and I thought I’d follow up my short statements with something more complete. I also wanted to follow up on some of the other comments, because they were reminding me of some entertaining ideas.
The challenge:
1 commentThis time around, let’s pretend that you’re a designer on an MMORPG, and you’ve been tasked with designing the player/guild housing for the game. Your goal is to introduce a new housing feature not found in any other current major game. This is to make the feature more appealing to the players.
