I started Guild Wars when it came out, and played it for roughly a year and a half and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have bought all the campaigns/extras for it, and I have to admit, my main enjoyment came from the first Guild Wars, where there were more players to group with for missions and quests (instead of falling back on Henchmen - I completed roughly 95% of Nightfall, Factions and EotN solo with henchmen) and generally a more community atmosphere. Instanced areas is a great idea, but it also means you can only meet people in outposts and cities, which can take away some of the community feel... i'm not sure what I think about it. It'd be nice to be able to see inside a city from your own instance, so it actually looks populated, and getting rid of the loading screens (or just reducing them) because it's a pain to get almost somewhere and have some disconnect, having to start all over.

As for GW2, the above post talking about the dragon attacking a bridge and you can a) ignore it, or b) attack it for a possible reward, this is a great idea.It could add some spice to the gameplay if this affected trade routes and thus increased prices, travel arangements etc, but not in a drastic manner so you HAVE to take part in every such event. I currently have GW, WoW and WAR on my PC, and the public quests in WAR are f*$^%ing brilliant - you might come across a rebel encampment or an Empire watchtower, a vast Chaos demon being summoned or merely a beachhead being invaded - and you are rewarded according to how much toy participate in it. You can ignore it and carry on, or you can dive in and help complete objectives, kill the Hero mobs etc, and at the end you have a chance to roll higher on loot bags (according to your contribution, so you'll tend to roll less if you come in half way or at the end of a PQ), which is a great idea. As of yet these public quests don't affect the game world, other than having areas where there can be Champions/Heros prowling (think WoW elite mobs or GW's level 24+ bosses), or merely the start of an uprising. When players congregate and interact it's great to see, and adds a community spirit even between random players who have never met.

I will most likely buy Guild Wars 2 when it comes out, assuming the world hasn't ended and we haven't blow ourselves up by that time, and I still have money. I think the idea of several vast, great dragons emerging from a deep slumber to wreak havoc on the current Guild Wars world a nice idea (for us, not those poor NPCs), there will be things for us older players to see a nd pick up on - perhaps we have to search the ruined city of Lion's Arch for an abandoned magical tome, or join the fight against Kaineng which has been overrun by the ravaging Undead. If anyone met Palawa Joko from Nightfall, he is also a great tie-in due to the fact you are his saviour in Nightfall, restoring him to a semblance of power and laughing haertily as he attempts to hold his Undead hordes under control.... then, to see him actually losing this slightly comical edge and actually becoming some Undead Lord, taking role as a major protagonist in GW2, that is a fantastic idea.

Anyway, it's all speculation for now... all I can say and hope is that Warmaster Tydus survives the draconic onslaught and you get to meet him sometime during the game. He's badass!

im amped for GW2 but
i think the first guy was right

the thing this game MOST NEEDS to change is that you should only be able to reach lvl 20
that is ridiculous

one of the worst aspects of the game

make more items. more armours. new areas.AND A MUCH HIGHER LVL REACHABLE by players..

also. i think you should have more spells. and MANY more attribute points

its the biggest downfall of the game.
only able to put in a certain amount of att points?

thats just silly....

also.maybe itd be cool that if when we left the camps we didnt get our own map. we could share one with the many people in our district? just add many more monsters and this would not be a problem? WoW seems to do fine and there are MANY more players?

email me and tell me wat you think?

first of all...i agree with a lot of what Talyn said in a previous post, all you people complaining about having no lvl caps, did you ever think that maybe that might just act as a sign of how long you've played? it doesn't mean that the higher lvl you are the better you are, they may decide to cap skill point gains at lvl 20 like in the current guild wars games.

second...for all the people that think GW2 is going to be a WoW clone just because they're adding some new features, and over 3 articles i have seen a lot of that, don't make you're judgments when hardly any actual information has been released about the game play, the release date is still a year or two from now, why not wait to actually be concerned when more information comes out.

I personally am ecstatic about a new guild wars, i think they did a great job with the campaigns and EotN but it's time for something new, I'll be excited when they come out with more information on the new playable races and how that will affect the game play...will different races have different classes available to them or different skills? and how exactly will they combine instances and persistent worlds, I've seen some of the ideas people have about it but who can really tell until arena net tells us?

I think people just really need to wait and see before making rash decisions or judgments on a game we really don't have much information about. A topic like this would be more relevant when we know more.

hmmm the only thing that i could suggest is they make a total split between pve and pvp so they can keep the pvp balance :)

and have a mmorpg mode for pve! It does give some bonuses with higher level cap. At first the can make the game much longer and the can upgrade the dificulty way better. Now everyone got the perfect builds for everything... Even the boss from EON can be 55hp ed. Missions can be solo run 'ed. The concept of a level cap in pvp owns since the made a great balance in the game! but im looking forward to a more intensive PVE with the nice cutscenes of GW wich i totaly loved!

GW2 isn't even out.... it comes out late 2008. You are probably talking about Guild Wars : Factions.... and that is not GW2. Factions and Nightfall are just seperate campains and Eye of the North is an Expansion. They are different games. They just are off the same game. GW2 is a whole seperate game. It will have a higher level cap and you will be able to jump, slide, and other things. I seriously can't wait for GW2 to come out because it will probably be better than WOW....but that is my guess because i played GW for over 2 years. I am currently playing WOW and it really isn't all that fun. GW2 will be the best game out there in my mind.

Well, i am really psyched about this new game. If you like the original Guild Wars better, thats cool, you can still play it. It's not like they are just completely forgetting about it.
