Hackworth’s Recent Adventures
From the Tag of the Month Club:

Drama N’ Jobs!
Two things:
1.) Simon talks about some hilarious drama over at the VGMWatch site. I have no real comments on the issue, but … dang I’m glad he does GSW. Here’s the crux of it: “How deep does this rabbit hole go? What’s clear to me is that the current management of VGMWatch are in absolutely no shape to criticize the rest of the game media until they address these allegations, particularly on the plagiarism.”
2.) Joystiq is looking for writers who are passionate about Massively Multiplayer games. Bloggers, specifically. We don’t know anybody like that around here, do we? Go apply, folks. Chris Grant, Elizabeth Harper, and their cronies are good people.
No commentsSanya’s Wacky Day Job
I am a shameless pimp: enjoy Sanya’s Guild Purity Test over at Guild Cafe. She initially blogged about it at her site, and then Scott piped up with his type: Risque-Intense.
I’m like Craig, I’m Colorful-Disciplined. I say swearity things sometimes, but I’m mostly there with my ‘A’ game.
1 commentHappy Birthday To Slash
Over at work this month we’re celebrating ten years of Slashdot.org. I’ve only been around for three short years (on the nose as of last month), but I’m going to throw a party here in town just the same. If you’re in the upper midwest area and want to come hang out at the Claddagh Irish Pub in Middleton on October 19th … well, you should.
All around the US (and abroad, it looks like) folks are signing up to host parties around the end of this month. If you’re inclined to get out and meet with your fellow nerds, it looks like you’ll have plenty of opportunities.
No commentsBack Into It
In case the explosion of stuff in my RSS feed wasn’t a hint, I’m feeling better.
- If you don’t usually go to the site proper, please come on over to see my colourful banner for September. I’m replacing it with the Halloween/October one probably tomorrow, but I really liked September’s.
- I’ve updated my horribly out-of-date Blog Roll. Somehow I had neither Voyages in Eternity nor Virgin Worlds down there. Sorry Brent! Sorry Craig!
- I’m blogging again over at Random Dialogue, my months-long-dormant personal blog, if you’re interested in that sort of thing.
- I apparently Twittered all last week while I was sick, even though I don’t recall it. It’s fun in a sort of ‘kill 2 minutes’ kind of way, and I expect I’ll be keeping that up.
- Seriously, did you check out that Metaplace interview from the week before this past? It actually answered some questions real game bigwigs like Costikyan were asking. I’m journo-tastic! :D
- le sigh. There was no Massive Update last week. I was just too sick to get it together. The upside? This week Massive Update will be truly MASSIVE. I’m also told the 1up folks are going to try to pimp it a bit more. Huh-zah.
Call for Help: Cartographer
Hey, quick question for my fellow WoWers; Cartographer kicks ass, right?
How the heck do I make use of the profession parts? That is, how do I get it to mark the map when I gather herbs/mine ore? As far as I can tell there’s just a big checkbox marked ‘Enable?’, and I have it checked. Perhaps I’m missing something about using a checkbox?
1 commentLet Me Move My Stuff
The Shwayder and I disagree on a lot of things (some of his MMO Rants have left me crying blood), but I really really really agree with MMO Rant 11.
My biggest complaint. Ever? Let me move my effing interface elements! Holy. Crap. Yes, this is a double “holy crap†post. You cannot predict where I want the elements of my interface. You are not a seer like me. Let me move the location of my damn health, and radar, and experience bar, and hotbar, and bags, and everything else that shows up on my interface. Wait, I have to download a UI mod to do it? You are a stupid game developer.
YES OMG DO IT NOW. How the fuck is it that without a mod I STILL can’t move my bags in WoW? GAAH.
