Riding into the Sunset on Wargback

Category: EQII, Player POV

The Shortiez guild has bounced back and forth between Loping Plains and Lesser Fay for quite some time. We’ve been stuck in the 50s for what seems like forever, but is probably just since the spring. Still, we’ve been at this general level area for some time. While it’s been a lot of fun, I’m now comfortable in saying that EQ2 is just not all that conducive to playing in the once-a-week mode the Shortiez use.

There’s two schools of thought on where we are in EverQuest 2, basically.

1.) We’re in a perfect position to experience the new expansion, which has content aimed at levels 50-80.

2.) We’re at the perfect point to walk away from the game.

As much as I’ve been looking forward to Kunark and (now even moreso) The Shadow Odyssey, I understand and agree with my companions’ interest in stepping away from Norrath for a while. To be honest, I’m a little chagrined that this is the point we’re stepping out. It kind of feels like we took ‘the shit tour of Norrath’ to be honest. We did most of our early playing in the at-launch zones (which are terrible) and have only very slowly worked through the better expansion zones.

This isn’t the end, of course, because the characters will always be there. We could come back to them at some point in the future. For the time being, though, we’re going to head out into the wider world to see what other games have to offer. As me and the Shortiez gang noted back in MMOG Nation Broadcast #13, there are a bunch of titles we’re interested in exploring.

Yesterday was our first play day away from Freeport. I’ll tell you how that went soon. In the meantime, enjoy this last bit of footage of Ostimak bounding around Freeport. We got our Wargs, and now we’re out.

Did you ever get around to hitting Klak’Anon, Mines of Meldrath, or anything at the Isle of Mara?
